What should I look for?
In our travels, we have seen everything from techs using one arm to lift a truck, to techs using the overhead beam to pull motors (a definite no no). That being said, you should check your lifts over for loose anchor bolts and loose equalization cables (the two most common problems) as well as leaks, sagging arms, and non functional arm and carriage locks. How often should I check?
Monthly, you should look for leaks, worn rubber pads, torque your anchors to 100ft.lbs,adjust your equalization cables, make sure the arm locks and carriage locks work, and look for loose bolts or cracked welds. Once a year you should have a qualified lift inspector come and fill out an inspection sheet for insurance purposes. We offer a Quarterly Maintenance Checkup service if you're interested.
How safe are your lifts?
We supply lifts that are ETL and UL Certified. We believe that if the lift has been tested under ALI guidelines, and has been certified by them, then that lift is safer than those that aren’t. Purchasing a non certified lift brings you on as a “tester” for the manufacturer . And since you are the one who is standing under that lift, do you really want that job?
